Chronicler is a short game for the Interactive Fiction Competition 2010. Unfortunately, due to poor scheduling on my part it's only half finished, or perhaps three-quarters. I can only hope that you'll find some amusement from the manipulations of objects it affords, while I apologize for the shortness of the experience. WHAT'S GOING ON? The black device lets you travel between two time periods. This may not always bring you to a past/future version of the room you started from. Aside from letting you access new areas, there is one important effect of time travel: Objects from the future with "past selves" are moved to the future version of the room where their past self is. HOW DO I GET INTO THE DARK ROOM? You need light. If you find a light in the past, then you move it somewhere where it can cast its light, it will still be there in the future. HOW DO I GET INTO THE STOREROOM? Make sure you've gone to the "Hallway" in the past and pressed the white button. Then go to the South Intersection in the future and get the keychip. Either version of the keychip will let you get into the storeroom. HOW MANY ENDINGS ARE THERE? Two (although more in this area was planned): 1) Power up the Great Machine, go south. ("IGNITER") 2) Power up the Great Machine, go east. ("WITNESS") HOW DO I POWER THE GREAT MACHINE? You need TWO cores. There's only one core, but you have access to two versions of it! The machine gets activated in the past. HOW DO I POWER UP THE MINING AREA DOOR? Actually, you can't. That area is unfinished. However, in the full game the answer would be: You have to install the power core cart. Find the past version in the Storeroom and push it to the Power Room.
