This "Read Me" concerns patch file Patch01 which upgrades Dinkum Version 2.12 to Version 2.13 . Paul Russell informed me that Dinkum was not portable to Apple MacIntosh computers. I am most grateful to Paul for his providing me with the necessary modifications for Dinkum's source code to compile in the MacIntosh and for writing the enclosed BinHex file which produces the necessary C makefile. The file "BinHex.1" is only for MacIntosh users and just takes up disk space in any other environment. Fred Smith informed me that Dinkum would not compile on some versions of the Coherent operating system and under some flavors of Gcc. I am thankful to Fred for pointing out to me some bad coding technique (not really bugs) in Version 2.12 which was limiting portability. Look inside "make.unx" and you'll see the lines that need to be changed if you wish to compile under Coherent or some of the odd ball flavors of Gcc. The patch file Patch01 incorporates the changes suggested by Paul Russell and Fred Smith. Also included are some very minor typographical errors which I discovered in Dinkum (no real logic bugs). If Dinkum Version 2.12 functions correctly in your environment then this patch will have only a very minor effect and may not be worth the trouble to install. However if you're a Mac user or Dinkum does not compile on your box then this maybe the patch for you. Gary A. Allen, Jr.
