******************* * Silver Gauntlet * ******************* ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Title : Silver Gauntlet Genre : Text Adventure Author : Paul Panks License: ALPHA TEST (Freeware) Rooms : (will have 85-100 when completed) Goal(s): Acquire the Silver Gauntlet; complete as many puzzles as possible for the highest score. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT IS SILVER GAUNTLET? "Silver Gauntlet" is a text adventure similar to Zork and other adventure games. The premise is to explore the mythical world of Silver Gauntlet by entering in a verb-noun combination of commands. The parser is a general one or two word parser that accepts input from the keyboard. The rooms are described in text descriptions. And just like my other game "Westfront PC: The Trials of Guilder", 16-color text plays an important role in the game play. HOW LARGE IS SILVER GAUNTLET? Silver Gauntlet will eventually be twice as large as the original Zork in size. Unlike my other games, room descriptions will be verbose and may be examined *in every single room* of the game. Puzzles will be many and solutions difficult (but not impossible). WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE GAME? When the game is completed, the goal of Silver Gauntlet will be to acquire the Silver Gauntlet by defeating Mordimar, the evil Magician. Silver Gauntlet will borrow heavily from my other games in terms of combat sequences, NPCs and message terminology. The main differences, though, will be in how error messages are both described and handled. More obstacles will be available to hinder the player and any progress made towards goal completion. WHEN WILL THE GAME BY FINALIZED? You can expect the final version to be released by June of 2002. I will update this game regularly. Characters you create and play in "Westfront PC: The Trials of Guilder" will be partially compatible with this game. What this means is that the characters you play in Westfront PC *will* load successfully on this game, but not all items will be made available to you. I will eventually implement the more popular items, such as the Shroud of Saint Nephan, Holy Mace, Disk of Athens, Glistening Anklet, Slayer, Glowball and Broadsword. NPCs such as the Wolf and Warrior will also be added. I am debating whether or not to readd Faldor to the game, because the Skeletal Warrior is already added and you do have access to three "bags" within the game (Sack, Knapsack and Backpack). The hover will also be added as time goes on. WHERE IS THE WEBPAGE FOR THIS GAME? The webpage is actually located at: http://www.geocities.com/dunric/sg.html HOW CAN I CONTACT YOU?
