- Instructions

The Murderer is a graphic adventure game set in turn of the century England.
In this interactive short story you are blamed for a murder you did not commit,
and must both evade your captors and find the true killer. 

This game uses a standard 'point and click' interface common to most
adventure games. Simply move the mouse pointer over an object and if a 
command is displayed it is an interactive spot. To activate the command, 
click the left mouse button. If you wish to examine an object which is
interactive, click the right mouse button. Double click the right 
mouse button at any spot to bring up your current inventory. Inventory 
objects can be used by left clicking on them, bringing up a menu
of available commands. After selecting an inventory command, text
will be displayed showing any occurring actions. Moving your cursor away
from the current object will remove this text from the screen. To move about
in the game, simply move your cursor to the edges of the screen 
(or to an object you may wish to enter, such as a house) and a red arrow 
will be displayed. Left click on the arrow to move in that direction. 
Locations with only one exit will display a small red arrow at the bottom
of the screen. Simply left click this arrow to proceed.

The puzzles in this game are of the classic type, involving interaction with
objects in various ways to progress in the game. Speaking to different
characters, examining objects, and using your inventory will help you solve
these puzzles.

To save, load, restart or quit a game, use the command menu at the top left 
section of the screen. You may also turn off the sound samples, if you so 
wish.


Installation:

To install, run instal32.exe found in the Murderer directory. It will 
install all the necessary files onto your computer. You can then run the game
from your Start menu, or place an icon on your desktop. 

Before starting the game, make sure your display settings are at 800x600
resolution, 16-bit color or higher. The game will not work correctly at
lower resolutions or color settings. You can play the game at higher
resolutions than 800x600, although there will be a black border around the 
game area.
