LOST (An interactive short story) Copyright (c) 2001 by Eric Mayer Created with Campbell Wild's ADRIFT authoring system My first attempt with ADRIFT is very short and practically without puzzles, although there is a walkthrough and some built-in hints. The game displays a few snapshots for mood, taken by the author, which should come with the zip file. In case you wonder, the game is not autobiographical (at least no exactly) thank goodness, although I did spend a lot of time in the park pictured. The unzipped file should reveal: lost.taf swamp1.jpg boulder1.jpg fork1.jpg reent1.jpg flag.jpg birch.alr lostwalk.txt readlost.txt To play the game, on Windows only, you need the Adventure Runner from the Adrift site: http://www.tardis.ed.ac.uk/~jcw/adventure/ Since there is no password on the game you can examine what passes for coding in Adrift by downloading the Adrift generator. I've included the file birch.alr -- a text file which is not needed to run the game but which is incorporated into the .taf file -- for the perusal of anyone who might be interested. ADRIFT is an underrated system with some great features and is constantly being improved. Orienteering, mentioned in the game, is an underrated sport. For information check out: http://www.us.orienteering.org/ I've written a few small games and some mystery novels (the latter with my wife). You can get the games from my site but you'll have to order the books from a retailer :) website: http://home.epix.net/~maywrite email: emayer00@epix.net
