#0 command help verb #1 take capture carry catch steal keep tote get Used to get object(s). Normally used with object such as "take keys" or "get all". Some objects like "bird" require you to have a cage. #2 drop discard release dump free put Used to drop object(s). Normally used with object such as "drop keys" or "dump all" or "free bird". #3 say mumble chant utter sing say any non-profain word and the wizard will echo it back to you. "say what" what ok. #4 open unlock op ul un o u Used to open an object. Normally used with object such as "unlock grate" or "open door". Usually requires you to be carying keys. #5 nothing Normaly does nothing. #6 lock close cl c Used to close an object. Normally used with object such as "lock grate" or "close door". Usually requires you to be carying keys. #7 on light Turns the lamp on so you can see in the dark areas of the cave. Need lamp. #8 off extinguish Turns the lamp off to save batteries. Need lamp. #9 wave shake swing Example: "wave wand" need to have "rod". #10 calm placate tame Example: "calm bear" #11 walk continue explore proceed follow travel crawl goto jump turn run go Example: "go building" #12 kill attack strike fight hit Example: "kill dragon" #13 pour squirt empty drip Example: "pour water" #14 eat consume devour Example: "eat food" #15 drink slurp chug gulp Example: "drink water" #16 rub polish clean Example: "rub lamp" #17 throw pitch toss Example: "throw axe" #18 q quit quits the game without saveing the current state. #19 find seek Not sure what this does yet. Example: "find water" or "find dwarf" #20 i inv inventory Describes what you are carrying. #21 feed Example: "feed bear" #22 fill refill Example: "fill bottle" #23 blast detonate blowup ignite Explodes the dynomite if you are near it. You'll die if you're too near it. #24 score Prints your current score. #25 friendly Friendly mode can be toggled on/off by typing "friendly". Friendly mode can be set to 0(OFF) or 1(ON) by typing "friendly 0" or "friendly 1". When Friendly mode is on, location numbers are displayed. #26 brief When "brief" is set on (default) I never to repeat the full description of a place unless you explicitly ask me to. This can be toggled by typing "brief". #27 read peruse Used to read messages from objects. Such as "read magazine". #28 break destroy shatter smash Used to break an object such as "Break mirror". #29 wake disturb scare "wake bear" or "scare dragon" may not be wize. :) #30 suspend pause Saves the game state to a file then quits (exits) the program. #31 hours Displays the Colosal Cave's operating hours. #32 log "log delete" deletes the current log. Three different levels of logging can be set by typing "log". Log to file is now OFF. Nothing will be logged. Say "log" to set next log level. "log" Log to file is now 1. Typed commands will be logged. Say "log" to set next log level. "log" Log to file is now 2. All input and output will be logged. Say, "log" to turn OFF logging. "log" Log to file is now OFF. Example: play some good moves. cp cp1 - saves cp1.adv -- this is now the default for rcp. play some bad moves... rcp - restores cp1.adv play some good moves... cp cp2 - saves cp2.adv -- this is now the default for rcp. get killed by a dwarf. rcp - restores cp2.adv play some and hit a dead end. play some bad moves... rcp cp1 - restores cp1.adv -- this is now the default for rcp. #51 restore rcp You can CheckPoint (cp) and Restore (rcp) without quiting game. Example: make some good moves. "cp cp1" make some bad moves. "rcp cp1". Type "help cp" for more detail. #52 reset restart resets the game to the beginning. #53 crypt Used to enter the "Crypt". Requires password and special knowledge. #54 input "input" file name will process commands from an input file. Automaticly switches back to "input keyboard" when the end of file is reached. "input" or "input keyboard" can be used in an input file to switch back to keyboard. #55 vocablength vocabl vocab wordlength wordl Toggles the vocabulary word compare length between 5 and 20. This was added to be compatible with the orignal versions which only looked at the first 5 characters of each word. When the length is set to 5, north and northwest look the same so you would have to use n and nw to insure the proper match. or Say "vocab 4" or some number > 3 and < 20 for specfic compare length. #56 Say "hints" to toggle the option to offer hints OFF/ON. #57 Say "autocp" to toggle the option to auto check point OFF/ON. When autocp is ON, the current state is saved after each successfull movement. If you get killed, answer yes to reincarnation then type "rcp" to restore the game to where you were before you were killed. The *.adv files are stored in a directory called AutoCp.
