Sacred to the memory of Alison Dawson 19?? - 1998 "She got hit by a truck." :( "By the way, I always though Alison was a British name, not a Canadian one." - Quentin.D.Thompson. Welcome to MYOPIA! MYOPIA is a puzzleless AGT game. (I'm sorry: make that an almost puzzleless game; I could tell you more, but I don't believe in early spoilers.) In this game, you play a different character in each stage, and reality alternates with a young cub's colourful western-space adventure.... Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Well, this is not plagiarism. This is not parody either. It's just meant to be a fun and entertaining way to kill an hour, especially after you've just soaked three handkerchiefs and a box of recycled Kleenex playing "Abuse, A Valium Romance" or some similar game. No animals were harmed during the making of this game. Instructions on playing the game are in the game itself; for spoilers, either mail me directly, or post a request to everyone's friendly neighbourhood IF newsgroup, rec.games.int-fiction. However, since I have actually included a walkthrough in the game, you might not need to do so. This game is not meant to be taken seriously. I am not a 'serious' IF author, and know very little about the actual theory of 'how to craft a text adventure' and so on. And I do not - I'm serious - really know what mimesis means. [Frankly, that doesn't bother me. Just as in non-interactive fiction we have popular fiction and literary fiction, in IF there are serious, artistic, literary games, and.....well, Quentin.D.Thompson games. To plagiarize Isaac Asimov : I am no threat to the reign of the Plotkins and the Nelsons.] If you find any bugs, liked the game, want to give me a lecture on IF etiquette, or so on, I can lend you my ear (or rather a pair of eyes) by e-mail, at or About the Author: ---------------- Quentin.D.Thompson is a pseudonym; my real name is Ravi.P.Rajkumar, and I can be found at , , or as Stupid_Q on the rec.games.int-fiction newsgroup. I've written one IF game, which includes more unfair puzzles in its 47 rooms than all the other games at the IF-archive, and several reviews. I am currently working on three more adventure games, which will hopefully be better. [NOTE: The pseudonym 'Quentin.D.Thompson' actually belongs to a cartoon character I created, who appears in this game, 'Myopia'. The pseudonym is *not* chosen for reasons of privacy, but to avoid future confusion. The fact is, I also write (non-interactive) fiction. My first novel is an endlessly boring and convoluted science-fiction story set in the year 2502, as yet untitled and un-beta-tested. Hopefully, I will publish an improved version of it - and several others that are as yet only ideas - in years to come. While my fiction is rather serious or scientific, my IF games are mostly humorous, and I don't want fans of one to be disappointed by the other, and so on. In the unlikely event that you like both, please let me know, so that I can write you a suitable prescription :-) Therefore, my works of fiction (assuming any publisher accepts them) will be under my real name, but all my IF will be under the name Quentin.D.Thompson.] Have you played these? ---------------------- At the moment, there is only one Q.D.T. game available at the IF Archive apart from "Myopia": "A Bloody Life", an interactive hospital soap based on some crappy novel called "Lifeblood" by a certain F.R.Slaughter. It's written in the same humorous/parodic vein, but has a few more bugs. An improved release is planned. Upcoming releases include a historical game, "Time Traveller". DISCLAIMER: I started writing this game before I even *heard* of "Jigsaw". - Enjoy yourself, Quentin.D.Thompson Planet Earth, 1999 A.D.
