8kadv.gam is "Dunric's 8K Adventure" for TADS. By: Paul Panks (dunric@yahoo.com) This was converted by Mark Musante on June 24, 2004 to TADS for Windows/DOS/Linux. Many thanks to Mark for converting my game. :) This is a simple, 8k adventure game written for use in GW-Basic, Qbasic and PowerBASIC. The goal is to explore the castle south of town and retrieve a hidden scepter (missing from the throne room). It may be possible to convert this game to other BASIC interpreters. You might also try converting this game for play on Tiny BASIC (minus the color commands, of course!) 8086 Tiny BASIC has around 5,200 bytes free, and this game currently stands at 10,870 bytes. A clever programmer might be able to convert it for play on other Tiny BASIC dialects (such as Minol 2.0 or Palo Alto Tiny BASIC). For more information on "Dunric's 8K Adventure", please visit: http://www.geocities.com/dunric/8kadv.html There is also a C64/128 version of this game, available from the following website: http://panks.freeshell.org/pauladv.html (scroll down to "Paul's 8K Adventure" midway down the page) Paul's 8K Adventure - As a personal challenge, I decided to write an adventure game in just under 8KB of RAM. The result is the game you see above. Actually very complete (a minor miracle considering how small the file is!) Works on VICE, MESS, and most others. For the Commodore 64 and 128. Both games are nearly identical. Sincerely, Paul Allen Panks [a/k/a "Dunric"] dunric@yahoo.com June 25, 2004
