Frobozz Magic Video Poker by Zach Matley First Released December 2000 For Amusement Only Attention Zork Fans! Video poker can now be played using Zork Zero graphics. If you own a copy of Zork Zero for the Macintosh or PC, follow the steps below to play. MS-DOS (or Windows): 1) Obtain the game file (fmvpoker.z6) 2) Obtain Dosfrotz 3) Set up a directory containing Dosfrotz, the game file, and one of the Zork Zero graphics files (zork0.eg1, zork0.cg1, or zork0.mg1) 4) Rename the graphics file to "FMVPOKER" ("FMVPOKER.EG1", "FMVPOKER.CG1", or "FMVPOKER.MG1") 5) If using Windows, open the DOS prompt from the start menu. 6) At the DOS prompt, type "FROTZ -D3 FMVPOKER.Z6" to play with MG1 graphics file. To use CG1 or EG1 graphics, substitute "-D3" with "-D2" or "-D4", respectively. Macintosh: 1) Obtain the game file (fmvpoker.z6) 2) Place the file in your Zork Zero folder 3) Rename the file "story.data" to something else ("oldstory.data", for example) 4) Rename the game file to "story.data". 5) Open the Zork Zero application to play. Other Interpreters: DosFrotz and the Macintosh Zork Zero Application are the only interpreters which I claim to be compatible. The DOS executable made by Infocom does not align the text properly. The game can be played using WinFrotz, but there are still a few bugs to work out. Although Amiga and Apple II versions of Zork Zero exist, FMV poker has not been tested with them. Other versions of Frotz may be compatible as well, but again, I have not tested them. Any feedback about your experience with other interpreters will be appreciated. The Fine Print: The story file to Frobozz Magic Videopoker may be freely copied and distributed, but may not be sold nor included on any medium that is sold.
