OVERVIEW Explore the Lonely Valley. Meet different characters, bring them different items, and learn the valley's ancient history in order to plan a proper picnic. You can only walk to 5 locations before you melt. Don't worry! You're a jelly person! You'll come back! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * II. HINTS ABOUT LOCATIONS IN THE LONLEY VALLEY - - - - - 1. Jelly Pits * After walking to 5 locations, you'll always melt and re-form here. * What else can be done in these pits? Perhaps the Frog Temple has a clue. - - - - - 2. Covert Cove * You can gather shells from the beach. You'll need shells! * You can provide a snack for the mermaid. Then she'll give you eels. You'll need eels! She'll also give you cold hard information, if you bring her different items to discuss from around the Lonely Valley. - - - - - 3. Burnt Hill * You can toss various items into the engine to get ash. You'll need ash! * You can toss yourself into the engine if you want to melt immediately. * If you want to grease the engine, you can toss something greasy into it. Like a particularly greasy fruit, which you might be able to harvest from the Picnic Spot under the right conditions. - - - - - 4. Wreck of the Dauntless * Trying to get ink for Captain Bones? You'll need a tadpole from the Frog Temple. * Trying to get biscuits from the hold? You'll need to clear out the sailors. They'll follow you across the Lonely Valley. Lead them to a location with enough coffins (or sarcophagi) to hold a crew. * Trying to figure out the star-chart? You might want to listen to the merry droll-teller for another piece of the puzzle. And a well-greased engine would be helpful too. - - - - - 5. Picnic Spot * Should an opportunity arise to frost some scones, you'll need sugar from the Marmalade Mountains. * Someone in the Marmalade Mountains might have further ideas about this Picnic Spot. * In order to have a proper picnic, you'll eventually need ash from the Burnt Hill, sugar from the Marmalade Mountains, a tadpole from the Frog Temple, a biscuit from the Wreck of the Dauntless, and a shell and eel from the Covert Cove. Trouble carrying so many items at once? Consider the captain's star-chart. - - - - - 6. Gossamer Hollow * You can buy tales from the merry droll-teller. The tales contain clues! Listen well! * The first tale requires a shell from the Covert Cove. * The second tale requires a shell from the Covert Cove, and ash from the Burnt Hill. * The third tale requires ash from the Burnt Hill; sugar from the Marmalade Mountains; and an eel from the Covert Cove, which you can acquire once you've satisfied the mermaid. - - - - - 7. Frog Temple * In order to get inside, you'll have to give tribute to the guardian frogs. You can acquire an eel at the Covert Cove, once you've satisfied the mermaid. * Doesn't that pattern in the temple look familiar? Like a map with paths? Who knows what curious things might occur, were an enterprising jelly person to travel those same paths across the Lonely Valley. * Want to reach those tadpoles? Try filling the pods (or coffins (or sarcophagi)) inside the temple. - - - - - 8. Marmalade Mountains * You can find sugar here. You'll need sugar! * What happened to that crystallised figure? The merry droll-teller might have tale to tell. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * III. HINTS ABOUT ROOTS AND ROUTES Whenever you walk across the Lonely Valley, your jelly footsteps will leave a pathway behind. You can only walk to 5 locations before you melt, but that's enough time to create some interesting patterns. Search the Lonely Valley for clues about which patterns to make. If you want to know which locations to search for clues, you should focus on the Frog Temple, the Gossamer Hollow, the Marmalade Mountains, the Jelly Pits, the Wreck of the Dauntless, and the Burnt Hill. The Frog Temple will tell you one pattern. The merry droll-teller in the Gossamer Hollow will tell you another pattern. The crystallised figure in the Marmalade Mountains and the monolith in the Jelly Pits will give you two clues to create a pattern. In order to speak with them, you'll need to uncover the previous patterns first. The merry-droll teller in the Gossamer Hollow, the engine on the Burnt Hill (after it has been greased by goblinfruit), and the star-chart in the Wreck of the Dauntless will give you three clues for the final pattern. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * IV. OUTRIGHT SOLUTIONS Heavy-duty spoilers, coming right up! In order to complete the game, you need to walk across the Lonely Valley to create 4 different patterns. Those patterns are: 1. PATTERN TO ACTIVATE JELLY MONOLITH Jelly Pits -> Frog Temple -> Covert Cove -> Burnt Hill -> Marmalade Mountains -> Jelly Pits 2. PATTERN TO INDUCE CRYSTALLISATION Jelly Pits -> Burnt Hill -> Covert Cove -> Gossamer Hollow -> Burnt Hill -> Marmalade Mountains 3. PATTERN TO GROW THE TREE OF HEAVEN Jelly Pits -> Picnic Spot -> Marmalade Mountains -> Wreck of the Dauntless -> Covert Cove -> Picnic Spot 4. PATTERN TO GROW YOURSELF Jelly Pits -> Wreck of the Dauntless -> Frog Temple -> Picnic Spot -> Burnt Hill -> Gossamer Hollow (this pattern also requires you to have ash, goblinfruit, and a tadpole) After you've transformed with the fourth pattern, you'll be able to gather all the ingredients to have a proper picnic at the Picnic Spot. Although you'll need a blanket too. The frogs will provide one after you give them an eel at the Frog Temple, and sugar at the Picnic Spot. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
