This zip contains yet another graphical z-code version, by Aldo Cumani, of the Mysterious Adventure series by Brian Howarth et. al. The main difference with respect to the previous release by Colin Davies (mysterious_z6.zip, available at the if-archive) is that in this version the pictures are hardcoded into the z-code, without need for any external Blorb file. I must admit that this is more of a proof-of concept than a practically useable feature, since the z-code size is reasonable only for pictures small and simple as the ones of this series, and decoding is quite slower than when using external picture files. Mysterious Adventures (c) 1981,82,83. All games written by Brian Howarth. #05, #06 and #07 co-written by Wherner Barnes, #8 and #11 co-written by Cliff J. Ogden. The Series ---------- #01: The Golden Baton #02: The Time Machine #03: Arrow of Death Part 1 #04: Arrow of Death Part 2 #05: Escape from Pulsar 7 #06: Circus #07: Feasibility Experiment #08: The Wizard of Akyrz #09: Perseus and Andromeda #10: Ten Little Indians #11: Waxworks This Version Of Mysterious Adventures ------------------------------------------------ Game files were converted from TRS-80 format (available at the If Archive in the scott-adams/games/scottfree directory) to Inform, using a modified version of scott2zip by Bjorn Gustavsson. Pictures were taken from the Blorb files in mysterious_z6.zip by Colin Davies (apparently taken in turn from the ZX Spectrum releases), and converted to Inform source code by a suitable C program written by me. To play these games you need a fast machine and a z-code interpreter that can play z6 files, with a screen at least 512 pixels wide. The games should work at least on WindowsFrotz, sfrotz and (without the time delays) xfrotz. Note that the games were converted mostly automatically, so I do not guarantee that they work exactly as the originals; anyway, I have tested some of them (06, 09, 10 and 11) with Jacob Gunness' walkthroughs, and they are winnable. If someone has questions, praises, complaints etc. I'm reachable at sfrotz at writeme dot com Have fun!
