MOUSE SUPPORT VERSION OF SPACE QUEST: THE LOST CHAPTER By Vonster D Monster -------------------------------- This game was written, designed and programmed all out of affection for Sierra's Space Quest Series. Space Quest, Roger Wilco and many of the other aspects of the game are copyrighted to Sierra. The file AGI.EXE will run the game, this is the altered Sierra Adventure Game Interpreter, called AGI Mouse, done by Brian Provinciano. If you have received it as a zip file, simply unzip the files in a folder and then run AGI.EXE. This version of SQ:TLC allows the player to move the game character around the screen using the Mouse. Simply Point the cursor to where you wish Roger to walk and Click the Mouse button. SOME THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT THE MOUSE SUPPORT VERISON OF SQ:TLC : When you click on the screen to make Roger walk, the bottom left point of Roger will walk to touch where you click at all times. This may take a little getting used to in some cases. Roger will not walk around objects or obstacles. You will have to click on various points on the screen to move Roger around these. Roger takes the most direct route to the point clicked, therefore he may run into obstacles on the way to the Clicked location. When a position is Clicked on the screen, until Roger reaches there, you will not be able to move Roger with the Keyboard. As soon as he reaches the Clicked location you will again be able to use the Keyboard to move Roger. If Roger is unable to reach the clicked location you will be unable to use the Keyboard until you click a new location that Roger is able to reach. (See below) When a position is Clicked on the screen, another can be Clicked and Roger will now move to that NEW location. (Only the Keyboard movement will be disabled with Roger en-route to a Clicked location.) The Elevator Screen on the Vercotron allows you to click on the Button you wish to press and you will be shuttled to the appropriate room. You can still type PRESS ONE etc., but the Mouse function will be much easier and faster. When coming out of doors, or the elevator, be careful not to click the mouse until the door is closed. This sometimes causes Roger to go where he is not supposed to and can interfere with the progression of events that needs to happen. This is a small bug I was unable to completely fix. Once the door behind him is closed however, you can proceed as normal without any problems. Clicking the Mouse will not remove Text windows. You will have to press ENTER or ESC just as before to go through them. ------------------------ There are people I have to recognise here and mainly they are : Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe, creators of Space Quest and hence genesis of this game. Sierra On-Line and all the people who worked there for helping put out this great series of games. Peter Kelly, creator of AGI Studio which allowed me to build this game. Thanks to this man's work on a great piece of software I was able to fulfill a dream of creating my own AGI game. Brian Provinciano, who created AGI Mouse, which allows Mouse support in AGI games. AGI Mouse in fact has more capability than I used here. It can actually turn an AGI game into a pretty fair approximation of an SCI game. Meaning you could allow the gamer to use the Mouse to LOOK at objects, GET objects, TALK to characters etc., all without typing. However it would have been too time consuming to re-work SQ:TLC in this fasion. My brother JR, who helped me with certain development aspects to the game and spurred me on when I needed it. Having another SQ fan in my corner was invaluable. All the other people who have tried AGI games over the years. I've downloaded and played most if not all of them and I gleamed ideas from many. Roger Wilco, truly an inspiring indivual, who almost single handedly motivated me to spend so much time and effort on this game. It was my desire to see him tackle the stars again that kept me going when things looked bleak.
