ECTOCOMP - An Adrift 3-hour comp for Hallowe'en! * Tales of cosmic fright!! * Eerie fireside memories of nature's deadly mystery!! * Adventures among the aether, the ephemera, the spirit realm!! * Tragedies of mad academics who take science too far!! * Warnings of monstrosities that lurk in the sea, in the air, beneath the ground!! * Stories of strange mechanical devices with unholy purposes!! Yes, I know we're right in the middle of the IF Comp judging period, but so is Hallowe'en, so I've decided to initiate a minicomp to allay all fears that Adrift is dead! Here are the rules, most of them craftily cut-and-pasted from Woodfish's last Hourglass competition: * The theme is fairly general; ghost stories, horror, the supernatural, weird fiction, spine-chilling tales, pulp magazine stories, etc. Any variation on this theme is acceptable, including parody. The game does not need to be set at Hallowe'en. * Games must be made in three hours or less, this is the challenge and focus of the competition. Brief paper/mental planning is allowed, but the game making itself must be done in three hours. * Entries must be made with ADRIFT v3.9 or ADRIFT v4. * Games must be original work. * A limit of three entries per author. * All entries to be sent to jason_guest[AT]groundchuck.co.uk. * The deadline for entries is the 31st October 2007. * So as not to interfere with the voting period for the IF Comp, votes will not need to be in until December 1st, two weeks after the IF comp judging period is over. * Any problems or questions, ask away in this thread or email me at the above address. The winner, provided they are able to play a PAL region 2 DVD, will receive a copy of my short film The Visitation. A bit cheeky, I know, but it does have an appropriately supernatural theme!
