Hello Linux ALAN user,

This port of ALAN is statically linked with a.out libraries 4.5.26, so it 
in theory should run on any Linux system of reasonably recent vintage.
I am only able to test on kernel 1.2.13, and have not been able to test on
ELF systems, but I see no problems.  If you have any Linux port related 
difficulties I urge you to send me e-mail at

and I will try to do whatever I can reasonably do to work on the problem.

If ISO character sets are important to you, should you be writing in any of 
the many beautiful languages which you may choose other than English, you
should not have any problem with terminal types ansi, console, linux, etc.
Under X-windows you must have an 8-bit compatible font or you will lose all
the accented characters.  Again, please let me know about any difficulties.

I am very pleased to maintain this Linux port of ALAN.  None of this would 
be possible without the hard work on the part of Thomas to produce the very
excellent ALAN system.  I think the best way to repay Thomas is to use ALAN
to write and publish some good games.
