Thank you for trying out Retro Fatale.

To run the game, open Frotz.exe, find Retro Fatale.z5, and begin.  You can SAVE, RESTORE, RESTART, and UNDO (which takes back one turn.)

A few comments.

If you're not familliar with Text adventure games like zork, here's your primer: 

usually, you can just type things like "Look at the lamp", but it's easier to type "look lamp" and even simpler to type "x lamp" 

there are 12 different direction you can go: "North, south, east west, northwest, northeast, southwest, southeast, up, down, inside, and outside." you can also "enter" a door and a few other things. these are in turn shortened "n, s,e,w,nw,ne,sw,se,in,out" 

Another thing you should know is that usually even some of the fluff in descriptions should be examined. If I mention some thick grass, you might want to examine it. 

When interacting with people, I generally try to keep the interactions to "Ask [someone] about [something]" it doesn't even have to be an item you have - try asking the characters all sorts of things. to give things to people.  DON'T SAY SOMETHING LIKE "give the potion to the troll"  - the THE's may make it not work.  say: "give [something] to [someone]". THE's are fine in this circumstance.

Finally, the "Search" command. This command is for you to more thoroughly look at something. Sometimes just looking/examiniung something won't be enough, but searching it will. SEARCH IS YOUR FRIEND.

I have mutliple endings depending on how you beat the game.  There's a good ending, normal ending, and bad ending.






AFTER YOU BEAT THE GAME

there are some funny things you can do in the game.  for example:

give the rusty key to the troll
give the coin to the troll
asking ashley about her boobs
ask the female guard about snoo snoo
smell taste and drink the oily pools
massage ashley
listening in the river
listen to the sword
listen elsewhere
look at the sky
wear the bra
ask the naga about sexual things
see the king for the first time after you've killed the troll.
talk to penny about sexual things.
sit in the lounge chair
talking to the king after getting penny
