Welcome to Neil deMause's *Lost New York* for the DOS platform! (Info on the game can be found in the file README.LNY) To run Lost New York, type "LOSTNY" at the DOS prompt. If this doesn't work, read on. This version includes a special version of the TADS runtime that only supports 386 processors and higher. It comes to us courtesy of David Baggett . If you need to run Lost New York on your PC-XT, it probably won't work, but you can download the regular (real-mode) TADS runtime from ftp.gmd.de as: /if-archive/programming/tads/pc.tads2exe.zip This version of Lost New York requires a DPMI host. The easiest way to satisfy it is to have CWSDPMI.EXE available, either in your DOS path or in the same directory as Lost New York. If you will be running Lost New York only from Windows or OS/2, then CWSDPMI is not required and you can safely delete it. I recommend putting it on your path, however, as it is likely that other programs will require it in the future, and it certainly won't hurt anything by being there. Why did we make things so complicated? Because people were having trouble running Lost New York on their PC's. This version should fix all the memory-related problems, including crashes, trains that never arrive, and saved games that won't load. I hope you're still with us, here. Now that you've got everything set up, just type "LOSTNY" and away you go! If you have any trouble, blame Robert Moses and send email to Matthew . Please don't bug Neil with your DOS questions. Enjoy! Neil deMause, author, Lost New York Matthew Amster-Burton, maintainer of the DOS version
