Napier's Cache walkthrough The goal of this opening section of the game is to gather the items Napier wants for the upcoming journey. GET NOTE READ NOTE to see a list of the 5 items Their locations are as follows: 1/ grimoire In the library (UP from workshop) SEARCH BOOKS then GET GRIMOIRE. 2/ crystal ball In the workshop EXAMINE WINDOW then GET BALL. 3/ wooden chest In the bedroom (DOWN from workshop) LOOK UNDER BED then GET CHEST. 4/ alchemical supplies In the workshop OPEN CUPBOARD then GET BOX. 5/ In the servants' area (DOWN and DOWN from the workshop) you need to get the bird which starts terrorising the maid. There are two solutions: either a/ In workshop EXAMINE DESK then GET LURE; return to servants' area and now you can GET BIRD or b/ SHOUT AT BIRD twice, to grab its attention and make it come to you It doesn't matter what order you get the 5 items in. Once all 5 have been found Napier will appear, and the game will transition to Fast Castle. The first scene here introduces more characters and story. At two points during this you need to react to move the game on. At the right time BOW. Then when Napier spills the wine you need to clean it up. EXAMINE TABLE, then GET NAPKIN, then CLEAN SPILL. Once the dinner conversation has ended the scene will move to the next day and the castle cellar. Napier is going to ask you to fetch some items. 1/ the alchemical box When he asks for this, OPEN CHEST, GET BOX and GIVE BOX TO NAPIER. 2/ a jar of oil. Follow Ralph up in to the castle (FOLLOW RALPH and UP both work), then WAIT a couple of times for Ralph to return with the filled jar. When he gives it to you go back DOWN to the cellar and GIVE JAR TO NAPIER. 3/ Napier's familiar, the bird Napier will give you the lure. Go UP, EAST, NORTH, EAST, then GET BIRD. You will need the lure to get it this time. When you go back W you encounter a cat that won't let you leave with the bird. DROP BIRD in either room to the west or east, then return to the kitchen on your own. ASK COOK ABOUT CAT (or TELL COOK ABOUT CAT) will give you something you can feed the cat with. Now return to GET BIRD from where you left, and on going out with the bird and seeing the cat again GIVE MEAT TO CAT. This will let you go back into the courtyard. From there return to the cellar and GIVE BIRD TO NAPIER. Napier will now conduct an occult ritual which gives a further clue to the treasure's location. After speaking to Logan again Napier will approach the cave under the castle by boat, accompanied by you and with Ralph rowing. When you reach the land go NORTH, NORTH, then CLEAR RUBBLE, NORTH, UP, UP, EXAMINE SHELF. At this point you need something to reach further in with. Go back to Napier (DOWN, SOUTH, SOUTH, SOUTH) then EITHER: EXAMINE BOAT, GET OAR OR: TELL NAPIER ABOUT SHELF (he gives you his staff) With one or both tools go back into the cave (NORTH, NORTH, NORTH, UP) then EXAMINE SHELF again. You will be able to pull out the box, but cannot open it. Return to Napier (DOWN, SOUTH, SOUTH, SOUTH) and GIVE BOX TO NAPIER. The game ending will now appear.
