Enjoy! Game Description ---------------- Life's tough being a mad scientist. So much to do and so many obstacles in your way. Fortunately you've itemized everything. Things To Do Today -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Plan: Conquer the World Tasks: 1) Construct a secret lair 2) Obtain an evil assistant 3) Stock lab with all sorts of diabolical equipment 4) Build a robot to enforce my plans 5) Create weapon to blackmail world General Information on Play --------------------------- * Fair warning, this is an attempt at puerile, tongue-in-cheek humour! While *not* an AIF game (Adult IF), it is however crude, silly and downright stupid. This is not the kind of game to persevere in hopes the second half will get better. It doesn't. The hero's one track mind gets worse. Much worse. :p * Much of the game progression is through conversations with other characters. Use the format of "Talk to Name" (e.g. "Talk to Candy"). Dialogue options will change based on progress, situations, things you've seen, or the other characters with you. When in doubt, talk to people. * The game should never allow you to put it into a broken state. Problems more often than not have multiple solutions. There are two early loss endings and four final endings (two winning and two losing). * This is an original work of interactive fiction. I have not played any of the other mad-scientist-taking-over-the-world-IF-games out there and so this is not based on any of them. That said, at certain times I channelled the following for inspiration: the Scooby Doo cartoon show (theme park setting), Resident Evil 2 & 3 video games (recurring environments between games), Vampire: The Masquerade video game (taxi transportation method) and the movie Dr. Goldfoot and his Girl Bombs (fembots and a bit of everything). * The game includes a blatant math puzzle at one point. If you don't like math, then your assistant should have several clues available. (I mean, the assistant with the high IQ. You'll know who I mean.) * Hints are embedded in the story and conversations. If you're enjoying the game and get stuck, feel free to email me for help. If you're hating the game and get stuck, best stop and cut your losses. :) * Thanks to D.R. for supplying the suggestion for the world blackmail weapon. History ------- * I originally wrote this game from 2007 to 2008 as a direct successor to "The Magic Show". When it was about 70% completed, I replaced my PC with an iMac and all development stopped dead. In 2013, I returned to the PC world, but going back to finish the game seemed insurmountable. * Then in May 2014, I decided to complete the game by sheer force of will. I spent a single week rapidly finishing it. Originally, the game had three acts. The first was fully completed, second was half done and third was bare bones. To wrap it up quickly, the second act was simplified and the third act was converted to text as the endings. I just didn't have it in me to truly finish the last 30%. * There's been no beta testing. So, I have absolutely no idea if the game is any fun. I only know that I built a game that I wanted to play. That's been good enough for me. :) * Please email any bugs/problems, questions or thoughts to me at: jasonmacinnes@yahoo.com. Enjoy! Jason
