:DESCRIPTION `7Your research laboratory is filled with equipment. A long white desk in the middle of the room is home to digital readout equipment and many other interesting devices that you never have fully understood. A chair and a black duffel bag sit on the floor by the table. Behind the table, several free standing machines (more equipment you don't understand) fills the north and east sections of the room. One apparatus you do understand sits among them. It's a saline solution converter which you've been inventing in your spare time. /IFS22=1 A glob of butter is in the machine's receptacle. Cold steam is keeping it fresh. /ENDS22 :FIXAPP `2You attach the gear to your saline solution machine and twist it into place. It appears to be complete and functional now. :LOOKBAG1 `2The black duffel bag is on the floor by the white table. The strap and part of the vinyl fabric is wedged under the table. Written in permanent marker on the side of the bag are the words “Hot Tub” and the number :LOOKBAG2 The bag is open but appears to be empty. :NOPOUR1 `2You can't use the machine again while butter occupies the receptacle. :NOPOUR2 `2The apparatus won't work until you finish the thing. It's missing a part. :NOPOUR3 /IFS1=0 `2You tip the empty cup up to the machine's funnel, but nothing comes out. /ENDS1 /IFS1=1 `2You can't pour hot water into the machine. It only takes saline solution. /ENDS1 /IFS1=2 `2You can't pour cold water into the machine. It only takes saline solution. /ENDS1 /IFS1=3 `2You can't pour ice into the machine. It only takes saline solution. /ENDS1 :POUR1 `2You dump the salt water into the funnel atop the apparatus. The machine begins to vibrate and the coils slide up and down as the liquid travels through your strange invention. After several moments, the final coil spits a glob of what appears to be butter into the receptacle. Cold steam whirls around it. :GETGLOB1 `2You already have a glob of butter. You can't take another one. :GETGLOB2 `2You place the glob of butter into your cup of ice to keep it cold and fresh. You now have the glob of butter. :GETGLOB3 `2You place the glob of butter into your cup (the only thing you have to carry it in). /IFS1=0 It turns to goo in the empty cup and you have no choice but to dump the mess out. The butter is gone. /ENDS1 /IFS1=1 It quickly melts in the hot water. The butter is gone. /ENDS1 /IFS1=2 It mixes with the water and is ruined. The butter is now gone. /ENDS1 /IFS1=4 It mixes with the salt water and is ruined. The butter is now gone. /ENDS1 :GETGLOB4 `2You lift the butter out of the receptacle and it promptly turns to goo in your bare hands. The butter drips to the floor and is now gone. :Format is: VERB PREP/x NOUN1 NOUN2/x OBJECT/x RESOURCETAG :SUPPORT look x APPARATUS x x LOOKAPP look INSIDE DUFFEL x x LOOKID get x DUFFEL x x GETDU :LOOKID `2The duffel bag is empty, although it smells like old gym socks and suntan lotion. :LOOKAPP /IFO19<>101 `2This is a machine you've been working on when time permits. It has a funnel on top leading into a series of coils and vents. Chemical reactions take place inside the machine. At the bottom of the last coil is a receptacle. The purpose of the contraption (in theory) is to transform the thick liquid you pour into it into milk. However, it has never worked due to a missing gear. /ENDO19 /IFO19=101 `2Your saline solution conversion machine is complete now, although if it actually produces milk you'll be rather amazed. More than likely, it's just expensive modern art. The funnel sits waiting at the top of the machine, and a receptacle is at the bottom. /IFS22=1 A glob of butter is in the receptacle. Cold steam is keeping it fresh. /ENDS22 /ENDO19 :GETDU `2The black duffel bag can't be moved. :END
