NOTES ~~~~~ This version of the TADS 2.5.5 Manual is based on Neil K. Guy's HTML version. However, I used the TADS 2.5.5 Parser Manual, which was more up-to-date, for Chapters 4 to 7. In addition, the images used in the document came from the HTML version. By the time I was more-or-less finished, the TADS 2.5.6 Parser Manual had come out in the IF Archive, also in HTML version. I was not able to check it for any major changes thoroughly. Except for some misspelled words (which I took the liberty of correcting), the fonts, and possibly paragraph spacing, *none* of the text from both manuals were altered in any way. The images (now in Bitmap format) were converted to black-and-white only to lessen the manual's printing costs (for my personal use, of course). Nothing other than their colors were altered. Other parts of the Manual, such as the section on converting an existing game into its HTML TADS version, and other HTML-related material, were not included. The Zip file (T255MSEC.ZIP) contains 2 files: UNZIP_ME.ZIP The Preface, Chapters 1 to 10 of the Manual, Appendices, plus the images (TADSMAP1.BMP and TADSMAP2.BMP) README.TXT The file you're currently reading The entire manual was re-cast using Microsoft Word 2000, and is divided into chapters, which greatly helped during its reformatting. If there are any inconsistencies in the text as compared to Neil's version, please don't hesitate to correct them, as I currently have no means to do so myself (the PC's broken).
