The intended way to play this game is in a web browser, which will let you use hyperlinks instead of or alongside the normal parser. Just open the file `index.html` in any modern browser (with JavaScript enabled).

However, it can also be played in a standard Z-machine interpreter (the file `gosling.zblorb`). If you play it this way, the hints and map can be found in `resources/hints.html` and `resources/map.png` instead of being embedded in the game itself. Unfortunately, saves are not compatible between the web and Z-machine versions.

If you’re using a Z-machine interpreter without a status bar (e.g. with a screen reader), you may want to use the command STATUS OFF. Normally, the exits from the room are listed in the status bar. STATUS OFF will display them right before the prompt every turn instead.
